Large Pounamu ripi

The pounamu ripi is a traditional Māori knife, crafted from pounamu (greenstone), prized for its strength and spiritual significance. With a carefully shaped blade, this taonga can be used for cutting tasks, including food preparation. While pounamu is incredibly durable, its natural edge is best suited for soft materials, making it ideal for slicing fruit or delicate items with care.

This taonga measures 10cm x 4cm and is sent in a custom-made wooden gift box.

Wearing your Pounamu close to your skin can help it maintain its polish. This is because it naturally absorbs oils from your skin, which will give it a special connection to you.

To further care for your taonga, you can oil it using any natural household oils or fats such as

• olive oil
• coconut oil
• vegetable oil
• tallow

Doing so will help ensure that it remains sparkling and beautiful for many years to come.
